PSG Withdraws from Zion Suzuki Deal, Juventus Gains New Opportunity

Paris Saint-Germain have pulled the plug on their move for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, ending a transfer that had looked all but done and unexpectedly throwing the door back open for Juventus.

The Ligue 1 champions were set to sign the Japan international from Parma for around €35 million including add-ons, with a clear plan in place: buy him now, park him in Turin. Suzuki would have joined Juventus on loan for the season, giving the Bianconeri a high-upside option between the posts without the full financial hit of a permanent deal.

That structure collapsed once already.

A few days ago, Juventus walked away first. Frustrated by delays and the conditions being pushed in the talks, they turned to alternative targets and stepped back from the proposed loan, leaving PSG to press on alone with the purchase from Parma.

For a short while, it looked like Paris would complete the deal regardless. Documents were reportedly ready, the medical was being lined up for today, and Suzuki seemed on the brink of a major move after his rise with Parma and the Japan national team.

Then the mood changed.

According to multiple reports, including from Fabrice Hawkins and Fabrizio Romano, Suzuki’s agents made an additional request at the last minute. The new demand infuriated PSG’s hierarchy, who reacted decisively: they halted the process and withdrew from negotiations entirely.

No pause. No renegotiation. Just a hard stop.

The French club are now described as having no intention of revisiting the move, leaving Suzuki still a Parma player and his future suddenly uncertain again as the window ticks on.

Their decision has a clear knock-on effect. With PSG out, Juventus have a fresh chance to go directly to Parma for Suzuki rather than relying on a loan from Paris. The opening is there, but the numbers remain heavy. Matching the kind of fee PSG were prepared to pay – around €35m including add-ons – will be a serious challenge for the Turin club.

Parma, meanwhile, hold a valuable asset who has just seen two high-profile deals fall apart in rapid succession. How long they can keep him, and who is willing to meet their price after this double collapse, will shape the next twist in a transfer saga that refuses to settle.
