PSG's Tactical Changes Ahead of Lille Clash

Paris Saint-Germain head north on Friday night still hunting their first win of the Ligue 1 season, and Luis Enrique is ready to shake the tree.

Held 2-2 at home by Rennes on the opening weekend, PSG arrive in Lille under early scrutiny. The champions dominated long spells in Paris but failed to close the game out. That has consequences. According to L’Équipe, four changes are expected for the trip to the north.

Defensive reshuffle

Nuno Mendes is still sidelined through injury, so there is no return on the left for the Portuguese full-back. That flank will change hands anyway. Lucas Hernández is set to drop out, with Lucas Digne coming in at left-back to offer fresh legs and a different profile down that side.

On the opposite flank, Luis Enrique looks ready to spring a surprise. Warren Zaïre-Emery, usually the heartbeat of the midfield, is tipped to start as an unorthodox right-back, taking the place of Achraf Hakimi. It is a bold tweak, aimed at getting another passer on the pitch without sacrificing intensity.

Marquinhos and Willian Pacho are expected to continue at the heart of the defence, shielding Matvei Safonov, who keeps his place in goal.

Midfield balance and a statement up front

The changes continue in midfield. Lucas Beraldo is set to come in for Vitinha, giving PSG a slightly different balance in the centre of the pitch alongside João Neves and Fabián Ruiz.

Higher up the field, one of the heroes of the opening weekend is rewarded. With Ousmane Dembélé due to be rested, Ferran Torres is in line for his full debut. The Spaniard came off the bench against Rennes and saved PSG with a brace; now he is trusted from the start.

He should be flanked by Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in a fluid, technical front line designed to stretch Lille and finally put three points on the board.
