Penybont 1–0 Colwyn Bay: Pritchard's Late Goal Secures Victory

Penybont’s perfect start to the Cymru Premier season survived a bruising night and a barrage of late pressure, as Rhys Griffiths’ side edged Colwyn Bay 1-0 to climb into sixth.

They did it the hard way.

Inside 20 minutes, summer signings Jonathan Leko and Ryan Hill were both forced off, ripping up Griffiths’ game plan before it had really taken shape. The home crowd fell quiet for a moment, sensing trouble. Penybont looked shaken, short on rhythm and short on luck.

Then the game flipped.

One of those early replacements, Owain Pritchard, turned the night on its head. When Bay keeper Mark Halstead misjudged a routine situation, Pritchard reacted quickest, stealing in to finish from close range and give the hosts the lead. A scruffy goal, but on a night like this, it felt priceless.

Chasing the game, Bay pushed higher and began to ask questions of Penybont’s reshuffled XI. Young goalkeeper Daniel Higgs answered them all. He stood tall to deny Callum Bratley, then reacted sharply to keep out Ethan Roberts as the visitors cranked up the pressure and the tension grew around the ground.
