Mykhailo Mudryk Cleared to Play Football Again

Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to play competitive football again after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) cut short his four-year doping ban.

The Chelsea winger, 25, has been sidelined since November 2024, frozen out of all competition after an "adverse finding" for meldonium led to a provisional suspension from the Football Association the following month. The FA later imposed the maximum four-year ban, a sanction that threatened to wipe out a crucial stretch of his prime.

Mudryk took the case to CAS. The appeal has not exonerated him — far from it. He accepted breaking anti-doping rules, and the court confirmed that breach. But CAS ruled that the suspension already served is sufficient, allowing him to return to competition "with immediate effect".

The decision ends a long, uncertain spell in limbo for the Ukraine international and for Chelsea, who have been forced to plan without one of their most explosive attacking options. Now, after months of training in the shadows and watching from afar, Mudryk is eligible to pull on a shirt again and step back into the spotlight.
