Didier Deschamps Confirms Kylian Mbappe's Fitness Ahead of World Cup Semi-Final vs Spain

Mbappe Cleared for France's World Cup Semi-Final Against Spain

Didier Deschamps has reassured fans that Kylian Mbappe is ready to play in France's upcoming World Cup semi-final against Spain, despite earlier concerns about an ankle injury. The France captain had trained separately during part of Monday's session, but this was part of a planned recovery approach rather than a sign of worsening injury.

Fitness Concerns Addressed by Deschamps

Mbappe was taken off in the 77th minute of France's 2-0 victory over Morocco after reporting a minor ankle issue. Speculation about his condition grew when he trained away from the main squad on Monday, with reports from RMC Sport indicating some ongoing discomfort. Still, Deschamps dismissed any fears about setbacks.

"He feels good," Deschamps told The Athletic. "He has the right, like others, to go 15 minutes instead of 20 minutes on a drill."

Additional Boost from Tchouameni's Return

France also looks set to benefit from the return of Tchouameni in midfield after his recent absence. His availability adds depth against Spain's possession-heavy style, giving Deschamps more tactical options.

"Even though he was on the bench for the last game, the risk was still high. He’s better today. I’m not going to say he has been 100 percent cured. He’s now available," said Deschamps.

Mbappe Leading the Golden Boot Race

Heading into the semi-final, Mbappe has scored eight goals in the tournament and currently tops the Golden Boot standings ahead of Argentina’s Lionel Messi on assists tiebreak. His presence is a big advantage for France as they prepare for one of their toughest challenges yet.

Focus Shifts to Spain Showdown

With both Mbappe and Tchouameni expected to be available, France’s focus now turns fully to their clash with Spain. Deschamps will likely rely on these key players to push for a spot in the World Cup final.
