Mason Greenwood Rejects Saudi Offers, Eyes Fenerbahce or Roma Move
Mason Greenwood has turned his back on Saudi Arabia, but his time at Olympique de Marseille is still drawing to a close.
The 24-year-old forward, as reported by Sacha Tavolieri, has rejected lucrative offers from Al Ahli, Al Qadsiah and Al Diriyah this summer, closing the door on a move to the Gulf despite serious financial incentives. The decision underlines a clear priority: career path over pay packet.
In Marseille, the chapter already feels finished. According to La Provence, Greenwood has handed back the keys to his house in Aix, a symbolic step that usually comes only when a departure is no longer a matter of if, but when. After two seasons at OM, both club and player are braced for separation.
The route out, though, is still being negotiated.
L’Équipe report that Greenwood has reached an agreement on personal terms with Fenerbahce. The Turkish giants have put their cards on the table and convinced the player of their project. What they have not yet done is convince Marseille. There is no deal between the clubs, and that remains the decisive hurdle.
AS Roma are also in the frame. The Italian side have registered their interest and, crucially, Greenwood is said to be keen on a move to the capital. The idea of Roma, the Stadio Olimpico, and Serie A clearly appeals. Yet Roma, like Fenerbahce, have not come close enough to OM’s demands to close a transfer.
Marseille’s stance is firm: the club value Greenwood at €50m. Any suitor will have to work from that figure, not around it.
For now, the picture is clear but unresolved. Saudi money has been refused. Fenerbahce have an agreement with the player but not with his club. Roma lurk with intent but without a breakthrough. Greenwood has left his home in the south of France behind.
The only question left is which club finally pays the price to turn that exit into a boarding pass.
