Manchester United Pursue Francisco Conceicao in Zirkzee Swap with Juventus
Manchester United are moving aggressively to prise Francisco Conceicao away from Juventus, with a player-plus-cash proposal that could reshape the attacks of two European heavyweights.
According to Sportmediaset, United have moved to the front of the queue for the Portuguese winger, who could leave Turin after just two seasons. Michael Carrick wants a dynamic wide forward to sharpen his frontline, and Conceicao has emerged as the preferred target.
Juventus’ €30m gamble on the former Porto man in 2024 is already paying off. Initially signed on loan, he convinced first Igor Tudor and then Luciano Spalletti that he was indispensable, prompting the Bianconeri to trigger a permanent deal. Since then, his explosive form has drawn admiring glances from England. Liverpool are tracking the situation, but United are the ones pushing hardest.
Juve now value Conceicao at between €50m and €60m. United, though, are trying to drive that price down by using their surplus up front. The proposed offer: around €30m in cash plus Joshua Zirkzee.
For United, Zirkzee is no longer central to their plans. For Juventus, he is exactly the profile Spalletti has been seeking. A forward comfortable in Serie A, technically gifted, and able to lead the line in a fluid attacking structure. That convergence of needs has turned the swap into a serious option rather than a speculative idea.
Jorge Mendes is at the heart of it all. The super-agent is steering talks between the clubs, working on a structure that satisfies both the financial demands and the tactical ambitions involved. He is expected to present a formal proposal to the Juventus hierarchy at Continassa in the coming days, with the swap framework already viewed by many around the deal as close to ideal.
From United’s perspective, securing Conceicao would deliver the high-tempo, touchline-hugging winger Carrick has been craving, someone capable of stretching defences and injecting urgency into their attacks. For Juventus, Zirkzee would arrive as a ready-made Serie A striker, supported by a welcome cash boost to continue reshaping the squad.
Potential Departures
That reshaping will have immediate consequences. If Zirkzee lands in Turin, Juventus must clear space in their attacking department. Jonathan David sits at the top of the list of potential departures. With Lois Openda heading to Lyon and Randal Kolo Muani expected to arrive, the Canadian is no longer considered untouchable by the board.
David wants to stay. The club, however, are prepared to cash in for around €30m. Interest is already lining up. Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have made early enquiries from the Premier League, while Rennes and Paris FC are pushing from France.
If Mendes can close the loop, Juventus could end the window with a new focal point in Zirkzee and fresh funds from a David sale, while United unveil Conceicao as the new face of Carrick’s attack. The question now is simple: who blinks first in a negotiation that could define both clubs’ forward lines for years to come?
