Manchester City Target Palmeiras Winger Allan Amidst Squad Reshuffle
Manchester City are pushing ahead with plans to raid South America again, with Palmeiras winger Allan emerging as their latest big target, according to The Athletic.
The 22-year-old is one of several attacking options on City’s list as Tottenham close in on Savinho. With key departures ripping through the heart of Enzo Maresca’s squad, City’s recruitment team has turned its gaze firmly towards Brazil.
A €100m stand-off brewing
City’s interest is real. The path to a deal is anything but simple.
Palmeiras insist Allan is not for sale this summer. Internally, the message is clear: anyone who wants him must pay his €100m release clause. No discounts, no negotiations on price. That stance sets up a potential stand-off between the Brazilian club and one of Europe’s financial heavyweights.
For City, the equation is awkward. They see Allan as a high-upside addition in a summer of major change. Palmeiras see a cornerstone of their present and future.
Rising star in Brazil
Allan only broke into Palmeiras’ first team in 2025, but his rise has been steep.
He has already logged 48 Serie A appearances, scoring six goals and adding five assists. The numbers are solid; the performances have been better. Sharp acceleration, clean technique, and a calmness in tight spaces have put him firmly on the radar of top European scouts.
This season, he has six goals across all competitions, helping drive Palmeiras’ title push at the top of the Brazilian league. He is still waiting for a senior Brazil call-up, yet his domestic impact has been enough to convince City that he belongs in their long-term plans.
Maresca’s rebuild gathers pace
The pursuit of Allan comes in the middle of one of the most dramatic squad reshapes City have faced in years.
Rodri, the midfield anchor, has gone to Barcelona. Bernardo Silva, the manager’s on-pitch problem-solver, has joined Real Madrid. Tijjani Reijnders has also left the Etihad. Those exits have torn out a chunk of City’s core and left Maresca with a serious rebuilding job.
The churn does not stop there. Newcastle United are in talks to sign midfielder Nico Gonzalez, while Tottenham are pressing ahead with a move for Omar Marmoush alongside their negotiations for Savinho. Around City, the market is moving quickly; inside City, the response has been to double down on a clear strategy.
South American strategy takes shape
If City manage to bring Allan in, he will be the latest piece in a defined shift towards South American talent.
The club signed Vitor Reis in January 2025 and previously secured Argentine youth international Claudio Echeverri from River Plate for around £12.5m plus add-ons. Allan would fit that pattern: young, technically gifted, and signed before his price explodes in Europe.
At the same time, City have already been active closer to home. Elliott Anderson has arrived from Nottingham Forest, 17-year-old Jeremy Monga has come in from Leicester City, and goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli has joined from Marseille. The squad is being reshaped from back to front.
The early signs on the pitch, though, have been harsh. A 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield underlined how much work lies ahead. Maresca now opens his Premier League campaign at home to Bournemouth on Sunday, knowing the squad still feels incomplete.
Whether Allan walks through the door or not could say plenty about how fast City’s new era truly begins.
