Arsenal Eye PSG Winger Bradley Barcola as Key Target

Arsenal are weighing up a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola – and Carlton Cole is adamant he is exactly the profile Mikel Arteta still lacks on the left.

The 21-year-old wants out of PSG, with the French champions ready to cash in at the right price so they can reshape their squad. That stance has sparked a scramble across Europe, and right now Liverpool are pushing hardest.

Liverpool lead the chase – but the door is open

Liverpool have driven the talks so far in recent weeks and are viewed as the most serious contenders for Barcola’s signature. They have not, though, closed the deal. That hesitation keeps the race alive and gives Arsenal a window to act before the transfer deadline.

Arsenal’s level of interest could spike quickly if they manage to move on Gabriel Martinelli. Any sale of the Brazilian would leave a clear gap on the left, and Barcola is seen as a player who could walk straight into that role and raise the bar in the final third.

Arteta’s attack has already been bolstered this summer, yet the club are still scanning the market for one more decisive piece. A young, left-sided forward with Champions League pedigree fits that brief almost perfectly.

A serial winner for Arteta’s frontline

Barcola arrives on the market with serious credentials. He has collected back-to-back Champions League titles with PSG, experience that instantly appeals to a squad trying to turn domestic promise into European authority.

Drop that kind of winning background into the Emirates dressing room and it changes the tone of a frontline already brimming with talent. Arsenal want players who know how to navigate the sharp end of elite competition; Barcola has lived it in Paris.

Cole certainly sees the logic. Speaking to the Metro, the former striker underlined his belief that Arsenal’s business is not done and that a left-sided forward remains on the shopping list.

“Bruno Guimaraes has come in, he's a brilliant player, and I still think they probably want one more signing before the window shuts,” Cole said. “I know they're still trying to do a little bit of business. I think they need another left-sided forward, they're obvious in the running to sign Barcola; they need someone like that.”

Cole’s verdict: “They need someone like that”

Cole’s assessment is blunt: Arsenal, in his view, still lack one more high-level option off that left flank. Barcola, with his pace, direct running and European experience, would offer Arteta a different angle in attack and strengthen the rotation for a long season across multiple fronts.

Arsenal have already been active in this window, but the chance to land a young Champions League winner rarely comes around on favourable terms. If the numbers work and space is created in the squad, the Frenchman instantly becomes one of the most intriguing attacking additions they could make.

Liverpool remain firmly in the frame and are not expected to walk away easily. Their inability so far to finalise an agreement, though, leaves room for a late surge from north London.

If PSG do sanction Barcola’s departure in the coming weeks, the question is simple: will Arsenal move decisively enough to wrest him away from Anfield and add another proven winner to Arteta’s evolving project?
