Madrid Faces Injury Crisis Ahead of Champions League

Madrid’s first defeat of the season came with a sting in the tail. Not just on the scoreboard, but down the left flank.

Mundo Deportivo report that the issue is not considered serious, but the turnaround is brutal and the margin for error tiny.

Madrid will be back on the training pitch on Sunday, using every session to piece together a workable side for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan. What might have been a statement opener has turned into a high-wire act.

The domestic defeat has already sharpened the stakes. Dropping points at home is one thing; stumbling into Europe short-handed against seasoned opposition is another. A positive result against Inter now feels less like an opportunity and more like a requirement.

Mourinho will watch Cucurella closely over the next sessions, gauging every sprint, every stretch, before deciding whether to risk him. If the left-back does not make it, Carreras is in line to reclaim the starting role and walk straight into one of the defining nights of Madrid’s early season.
