Liverpool Eyeing Late Transfer Deals for Camara and Sarr

Liverpool’s transfer window has flickered into life again, and this time the focus has swung towards Senegal.

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool have been offered Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as a late-window opportunity, with the Ligue 1 club making him available to both the Reds and Chelsea in the final stretch of the market.

It drops another name onto an already busy shortlist.

Iraola wants width – but midfield door stays open

So far, Liverpool’s summer has been controlled rather than chaotic. Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz have arrived on permanent deals, while Ronald Araujo has joined on loan from Barcelona to bolster the defence.

The headline chase has been for Bradley Barcola. After a long pursuit, a deal with PSG for the winger is now in place, underlining Andoni Iraola’s clear desire to add pace and threat in the wide areas before the window closes on September 1.

Speaking before Liverpool’s clash with Nottingham Forest, Iraola made no secret of his priorities.

“The word is ‘ideally’, ideally is the magic word,” he said when pressed on whether more signings were expected. He stressed that the focus has been on strengthening out wide, but left the door open to further business elsewhere.

“Still, we have four, five days, I’m sure if we can improve other areas, we will.”

The message was clear: wide players first, but not only.

Camara emerges as Monaco prepare to sell

That is where Camara comes in. Jacobs reported on X that Monaco have put the midfielder’s name to both Chelsea and Liverpool as a possible late-window deal, noting that Crystal Palace saw a bid rejected earlier this month.

Liverpool’s need in the middle of the park has sharpened since the sale of Curtis Jones to Inter Milan. The club want to accelerate the development of highly-rated youngster Trey Nyoni, but the departure of an established senior option has left a gap that cannot be ignored.

Monaco’s own business points towards movement. Journalist Luca Bendoni revealed that the French side have reached an agreement in principle with Cruz Azul for midfielder Erik Lira in a package worth around €10m including add-ons, with the transfer dependent on Monaco offloading a non-EU player.

That could be Camara.

Double Senegal swoop still on the table

The Senegal theme does not stop there. Liverpool’s interest in Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr has never fully gone away.

Senegalese journalist La Loumance suggested on X that Camara is “not the only Senegalese who could sign with Liverpool”, indicating that both the Monaco midfielder and Sarr remain in play before the deadline.

That aligns with a report from The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, who stated that Liverpool are still pursuing a deal for Sarr despite new Palace boss Pierre Sage insisting the attacker is not for sale.

Confusion has swirled around the numbers. One report claimed Liverpool had a bid of around £50m turned down for the 28-year-old. TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey, though, has since been told that no formal offer was actually lodged.

Liverpool have made an enquiry, yes. But, crucially, it is Sarr’s camp who have pushed his name towards Anfield, hoping to turn that initial interest into a concrete bid.

The dynamic is familiar: the player’s side are nudging, the club are watching, the clock is ticking.

Anfield braced for a frantic finish

What is not in doubt is that Liverpool’s recruitment team are gearing up for a frantic final few days of the window. Wide options remain the priority, with Barcola incoming and Sarr still hovering on the radar. At the same time, Camara’s availability offers a potential solution to the midfield reshuffle triggered by Jones’ exit.

A trusted source has already indicated that any late midfield move is likely to centre on a player Iraola knows well.

With the deadline closing in and opportunities being thrown their way, the question now is simple: how bold will Liverpool be in turning those offers into signatures before the window slams shut?
