Liverpool Set to Walk Away from Barcola Deal as Arsenal Waits

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola is close to snapping. Not because they don’t rate him, but because Paris Saint-Germain have planted a flag in the ground and refused to move it.

With Mohamed Salah gone to Trabzonspor on a free and no replacement through the door, Liverpool had identified the 21-year-old France winger as a priority signing. Talks have been running for weeks. They have not gone anywhere fast.

PSG’s stance is stark: around £145 million or nothing. No discounts, no creative structures that drag the fee down. Barcola, short of minutes in Paris and open to a move that would put him at the centre of a project, may be keen, but his wishes are not shifting the numbers in the boardroom.

Liverpool have made it clear they will not go that high. The gap between valuation and reality has grown into a stand-off, and with the transfer deadline just three weeks away, patience is draining. They have been hunting a headline signing in attack after failing to land Vinicius Junior, who opted to commit his future to Real Madrid with a new long-term deal. Barcola has remained on their radar despite the arrival of Christos Tzolis on the left, and Liverpool’s reluctance to meet PSG’s demands could open a lane for the north London club.
