Khiara Keating Joins Liverpool FC Women as Goalkeeper
Liverpool FC Women have moved to strengthen the spine of their team with the signing of highly rated goalkeeper Khiara Keating on a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old arrives at the end of her contract with Manchester City, ending a long association with the club where she came through the academy and first made her name. She made her senior debut at just 17, a marker of the trust coaches have placed in her temperament as much as her talent.
Her switch to Merseyside carries an intriguing sub-plot. Keating will once again work under head coach Gareth Taylor, having previously been coached by him during their shared time at City. That familiarity should accelerate her adaptation in a new dressing room and a new environment, even if the expectations at Liverpool will be very much her own to shoulder.
She becomes Liverpool’s fourth new recruit of the summer, a clear signal that the club are not content to stand still. Keating does not arrive as a prospect in need of shelter, but as a goalkeeper already hardened by top-level experience and the scrutiny that comes with it.
A graduate of City’s academy system, she has long been earmarked as one of England’s most promising shot-stoppers. That potential has already translated into international recognition: Keating has represented England at youth level and stepped up to the senior Lionesses, making her debut in October 2025.
For Liverpool, this is a signing aimed at the present as much as the future. A young goalkeeper with a seasoned résumé, reuniting with a coach who knows exactly what she can bring. The only question now is how high her ceiling will be in red.
