Juventus Reject Arsenal's Pursuit of Kenan Yildiz

Arsenal’s pursuit of Kenan Yildiz has run straight into a brick wall in Turin.

Juventus are not listening. Not to the noise from London, not to the figures being floated, not to the idea that every young star eventually has a price. For them, the 21-year-old is non-negotiable.

Juventus shut the door

Yildiz, fresh from a breakout season in which he played 47 games in all competitions and produced 11 goals and 10 assists, has become the face of Juve’s rebuild. Arsenal have been circling for months, ready, according to reports, to test that resolve with a huge offer.

The answer from the Allianz Stadium is simple: no.

On the eve of the new Serie A campaign, with Juventus opening away to Frosinone, Luciano Spalletti dealt with the transfer talk head-on and with a smile.

“I am perfectly relaxed, because dealing with Yildiz is easy for me,” he told reporters. “They can offer whatever they like, I want Yildiz here and will always put him on the field. He's a perfect lad to talk to, he's mature, and knows he doesn't need to rush anything.”

No hint of doubt. No invitation to bid. Just a coach drawing a line.

From Bayern prospect to Juve cornerstone

Yildiz’s rise since arriving from Bayern Munich’s academy in 2022 has been rapid and ruthless. He tore through the youth ranks, made the senior step look routine, and played his part in Juve lifting the 2023-24 Coppa Italia.

Inside the club, they speak about him in rare terms. Spalletti did not hide the scale of their belief when the subject of his valuation came up.

“His future is already important staying at Juventus, not because there are other clubs who want to spend €100m for him,” he said. “We are all convinced that we can show the total potential of Kenan, and he is a potential phenomenon of football. The fans are convinced too.”

This is not the language of a club preparing to cash in. It is the language of a project being built around one player.

A bond with Turin that money struggles to touch

Yildiz has not just impressed with his numbers. He has leaned into Juventus’ history, embraced it, and made it part of his own story. His admiration for Alessandro Del Piero is well known, right down to copying the legend’s trademark tongue-out celebration.

That kind of detail matters in Turin. It has helped turn him into a fan favourite already, and it adds another layer of resistance to any move. Arsenal can offer the Premier League, the Emirates, a title-chasing squad. What they cannot offer is Del Piero’s shadow on the same touchline.

Juventus have acted to protect that bond. A lucrative five-year contract signed earlier this year gives them total control over his future and removes any urgency to even listen to approaches. After finishing sixth last season and dropping into the UEFA Europa League, they need pillars to build around. Yildiz is one of them.

Arsenal’s plan meets a hard stop

Across the Channel, Arsenal have been anything but passive this summer. Ezri Konsa has arrived from Aston Villa, Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, and Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, as Mikel Arteta refreshes a squad tasked with defending the Premier League title.

There is change in attack too. Leandro Trossard has gone, and questions hang over Gabriel Martinelli’s long-term future at the Emirates. Yildiz, with his versatility, creativity, and age profile, fit the gap perfectly on paper.

On the pitch, Arsenal have started as if nothing is missing. A commanding 3-0 win over Coventry City on Friday launched their title defence in style and underlined the depth already at Arteta’s disposal.

But the one name they wanted most looks locked away in black and white stripes.

Juventus see Kenan Yildiz not as a sale to fund a rebuild, but as the player who defines it. If Arsenal want to change that, how high can they really go—and would even that be enough?
