Juventus Pursues Kolo Muani as Carnevali Signals Optimism

The clock is ticking in Turin and the message from the boardroom is clear: Juventus want Randal Kolo Muani back – and they want him soon.

After weeks of talks with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali has hinted that the saga may finally be entering its decisive phase. Stopped by reporters on Wednesday and asked what was still missing before a deal could be completed, Carnevali kept it brief but telling.

“I hope not a lot,” he replied, a line that will sound like music to Juventus supporters waiting for a new No 9.

A vacancy up front

With less than a month to go before the 2026-27 Serie A season kicks off, Luciano Spalletti is still without the centre-forward he has been pushing for all summer. The club said goodbye to Dusan Vlahovic when his contract expired on June 30, and while there has been ongoing contact over a possible extension, Juventus have not stood still.

They have scanned the market, weighed up alternatives and kept returning to one name: Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman made a strong impression in Turin during his loan spell in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, scoring eight goals in just 16 Serie A appearances. It was a short stay, but it left a mark – on the pitch and in the minds of those planning Juventus’ next cycle.

The offer on the table

Negotiations with PSG have been anything but straightforward. The French champions have been holding out for a package worth around €50m, a figure that initially looked like a major obstacle.

Juventus have now pushed back with what is described as an improved proposal: a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for €40m plus add-ons. The structure matters. The bonuses built into the deal are designed to bring the overall value close to that €50m mark PSG have been seeking, while giving Juventus some breathing space on their immediate budget.

The pressure has been building. Pre-season plans are in full swing, tactical drills are being refined, and Spalletti still lacks the focal point his system demands. Every day without a striker sharpens the need for a breakthrough.

Carnevali’s brief comment suggests that breakthrough may finally be in sight.

A familiar face, a different weight

Kolo Muani is not an unknown quantity in Turin. Those 16 league games last season showed a forward capable of stretching defences, attacking space and finishing under pressure. He adapted quickly, found rhythm, and gave Juventus a more vertical edge in attack.

Now the stakes are higher. This would not be a half-season audition but a long-term bet, a major financial commitment at a time when every big outlay has to count.

PSG, for their part, know they are dealing from a position of strength on the fee but also with a player whose future they need to clarify. Juventus are pushing, the numbers are edging closer, and the gap – if Carnevali is to be believed – is no longer vast.

The Old Lady have made their move. PSG hold the final card. The question now is not whether Juventus want Kolo Muani, but how quickly they can turn cautious optimism into a signature before the new season roars into life.
