Contract Signed Before Seizures Began

The report also lifts the lid on Musiala’s contract situation. When he signed his current deal in February 2025, worth around €25 million per year according to Sport Bild, the absence seizures had not yet occurred. The condition simply was not a factor at the negotiating table.

That timing matters. Because of it, there are no special clauses, no health-related safeguards written into the contract. Bayern committed to one of Europe’s brightest talents on sporting grounds alone, with no reference to a neurological issue that had not yet surfaced.

Medication Adjusted After World Cup

The two collapses against Leipzig and Heidenheim did not come out of nowhere. They followed a change in medication after the World Cup.

“He reduced it a little, now we have to increase it a little again,” Eberl recently explained, outlining how the treatment was being readjusted in the wake of the frightening scenes. The new dosage needs time to take effect – up to 14 days, according to the report.

That delay has consequences on the pitch. For now, Musiala is out of team training. No full sessions, no contact work. He is training individually, kept close but carefully managed, as Bayern wait for the medication to stabilise his condition.

When Will Musiala Return?

The short-term outlook is cautious. Sport Bild reports that Musiala will not be considered for the squad for Friday’s Bundesliga opener against VfB Stuttgart. Bayern will start the league campaign without their creative fulcrum.

The more realistic target lies eight days later: matchday two, away to Schalke. That fixture is described as a more likely comeback date, provided the medication has settled and the medical staff are satisfied.

The timeline also brushes up against a key national-team milestone. Klopp’s first Germany squad is due to be announced on 17 September. By then, Musiala could already be back in competitive action for Bayern, giving the new Bundestrainer the chance to include a player he clearly views as indispensable.

Kompany’s Backing and Bayern’s Internal Verdict

Inside the club, Musiala’s situation is not being framed as a problem, but as a responsibility. According to Sport Bild, the attacker is very happy with how Bayern have handled his condition – from the internal transparency to the compromise over when to go public.

There has also been a personal conversation with coach Vincent Kompany. The Belgian made his stance clear: in his view, Musiala has never been better under his tenure, which began in 2024.

Kompany’s public comments back that up. “I know that he has made huge progress this summer. Look at the minutes he has played,” the Bayern coach said recently. “He has done things that were not on the same level as our best players, but one level higher.
