Ismael Saibari Embraces Challenge at Bayern Munich

Ismael Saibari didn’t bother hiding the scale of the step he’s just taken. Standing in front of the cameras at his official unveiling, the new signing spoke like a player who already feels at home in the spotlight of a European giant.

“Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said, leaning into the club’s status as much as its promise. The move, for him, is about more than a shirt and a stage. “They've given me the confidence that I can develop as a player and person here.”

That word – develop – matters. Saibari arrives knowing exactly what kind of football he’s walking into. High tempo. Relentless movement. Constant pressure on the opposition box.

“They play with a lot of movement and high intensity. I saw that myself last season,” he pointed out, clearly impressed by what he’d watched from afar. “They play very good football, it's always intense, they always look for finishes. I like that a lot.”

This is not a player wondering if he fits. It’s a player convinced he belongs in that chaos.

Saibari’s role under Kompany

The big tactical question, of course, is where he will slot into Vincent Kompany’s system. On that front, there is still a conversation to be had.

“I haven't discussed it [position] in detail with the coach,” Saibari admitted. His focus in recent weeks has been far more basic and far more personal: getting his body right. “I've been focusing on my injury and comeback. We'll definitely talk about it soon.”

What he doesn’t hide is his preference. “My favourite position is the number ten, everyone knows that,” he said, making it clear where he feels most dangerous — between the lines, facing goal, threading passes or driving into the box.

But he’s not drawing any hard borders around his game. Modern attackers can’t. “I can play in several positions, we always switch around during games anyway. I can also play out wide and a bit deeper.”

It’s exactly the kind of versatility Kompany’s fluid system demands: a ten who can drift, a wide player who can come inside, a midfielder who can drop in and help build. Saibari knows the movement won’t stop once the whistle blows.

Now comes the real test: turning that belief in Bayern’s project into minutes, impact, and a permanent place in Kompany’s evolving blueprint.
