Harry Wilson Doubt for Wales Due to Quad Injury

Wales’ return to the top tier of the Nations League has been dealt an early blow, with Harry Wilson now a serious doubt for the opening fixtures.

The Leeds United forward had been named in Craig Bellamy’s squad for a demanding run of games against Portugal, Denmark and Norway in September and October. Instead of building towards that challenge, he is back in the treatment room.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke confirmed on Friday that Wilson has suffered a quadriceps muscle injury, ruling him out of Sunday’s Premier League match at home to Crystal Palace.

“Harry Wilson is out of this game, a quad injury, he reported some problems after the last game and also during this training week,” Farke said of the 29-year-old, who has 69 caps and 17 goals for Wales.

The setback does not look like a short-term concern either.

“He will also probably miss the Welsh games, so definitely not good news for him and also not for the Welsh team,” Farke added.

For Bellamy, preparing to lead Wales back into League A against elite opposition, losing one of his most experienced and productive attacking players would be a significant early test.
