Fridolina Rolfö to Miss Entire 2026/27 Season Due to Pregnancy

Manchester United will be without star forward Fridolina Rolfö for the entire 2026/27 campaign after the Sweden international announced she is expecting a baby.

Rolfö was absent from United’s WSL opening-day defeat away to London City Lionesses last Friday. The reason became clear when she shared the news of her pregnancy with her teammates shortly after.

For head coach Eva Olid, it is a bittersweet moment. United lose one of their most versatile and experienced attackers for the season, and likely into the early stages of the 2027/28 campaign as Rolfö takes the time needed to return to full fitness after childbirth.

United have been here before. Last season, winger Celin Bizet Dønnum announced her pregnancy after playing her final game in October 2025 and has yet to return to first-team action. That recent example underlines how long the recovery and reintegration process can be at elite level.

Rolfö’s absence forces an early reshuffle of United’s attacking plans, but it also marks another significant personal milestone for one of the club’s most high-profile players. The squad will now have to adapt without her, while the calendar keeps moving and the WSL season offers no pause.
