Jose Mourinho Excludes Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid's Champions League Squad

Ferland Mendy Left Out of Real Madrid's Champions League Lineup

Ferland Mendy has not been named in Real Madrid's squad for the upcoming Champions League season. Manager Jose Mourinho made the decision to exclude the French defender, who had picked up an injury late last season, from the official UEFA list ahead of their opening match against Inter Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Other Injured Players Included

Despite Mendy's absence, Mourinho included other injured key players such as Eder Militao and Rodrygo in the European roster. This move shows a tactical approach to managing player availability and squad depth for the demanding Champions League campaign.

Youth Players Strengthen the Squad

The List A squad under Mourinho contains few surprises, but there is a significant presence of youth players in List B. Eleven emerging talents from Real Madrid Castilla were added, including recent signing Sergio Martinez, who was given the number 38 jersey. Other young players like goalkeepers Sergio Mestre and Javi Navarro, along with defenders Fortea and Joan Martinez, provide valuable backup options.

Focus Shifts to Domestic Challenges

With the Champions League squad set, Real Madrid now turns its attention to LaLiga fixtures. They face Real Betis at La Cartuja, where newcomers like Sergio Martinez have already earned senior team call-ups. As the team deals with these domestic challenges, Mendy remains sidelined, concentrating on his recovery.
