Fenerbahce slipped to a bruising 2-1 home defeat against arch-rivals Besiktas on matchday four of the Trendyol Super Lig, a result that stung not just because of the scoreline, but because of how it unfolded.

Instead, they leaned heavily on wide deliveries that the visitors read and cleared. On Thursday, 10 September, they host Roma at 19:45 in their first Champions League matchday of the season. The stakes jump from domestic frustration to continental scrutiny in a matter of days.

Skriniar has called for immediate tactical adjustments. Greater compactness. Smarter pressing. More imagination going forward. Against Roma, those can’t just be talking points in the dressing room; they have to be visible on the pitch.
