Fabio Vieira Joins Hamburg Permanently for 10m Euros
Fabio Vieira has ended his Arsenal stint and made his return to Hamburg permanent, joining the Bundesliga club in a deal worth 10m euros (£8.6m).
The 26-year-old midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Hamburg after a year back at Porto, leaves north London having made 49 appearances since arriving from Porto in 2022.
Arsenal had earmarked Vieira as one of several saleable assets this summer as they reshape Mikel Arteta’s squad. Forwards Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli are also expected to depart on permanent transfers, signalling a significant attacking overhaul.
Vieira’s exit closes a stop-start chapter at the Emirates, where flashes of his creativity never fully translated into a regular starting role. In Hamburg, he now steps into a dressing room that already knows his game, with the German side backing that familiarity with a sizeable fee.
The clear-out at Arsenal is not limited to senior names. Highly rated academy product Ethan Nwaneri is close to securing a loan move to Borussia Dortmund, a club with a strong recent record of developing young talent.
Arsenal are trimming, cashing in, and sending prospects abroad to grow. The question now is what kind of team emerges once all the pieces have been moved.
