Endrick’s Future: Manchester United's Opportunity Amid Real Madrid's Dilemma

Endrick has barely unpacked his bags at Real Madrid, yet the tug of war over his future has already begun.

Ale Moreno believes Manchester United should be at the front of the queue.

Real Madrid paid Palmeiras around £50 million to secure the Brazilian when he was just 16, a statement signing for the next decade. But the present is less straightforward. Kylian Mbappé has locked down the central role in Madrid’s attack, and Endrick is discovering what many young forwards learn quickly at the Bernabéu: talent alone doesn’t move superstars out of the way.

Speaking on ESPN, Moreno laid out the dilemma and the opportunity.

“I really do think that Real Madrid could use Endrick this season. So, if I were Endrick, I actually would consider staying at Real Madrid,” he said, before opening the door to England. “But if the question is about where he would go, where he should go, where he may end up… we’ve talked a lot about Manchester United. The more you think about it, the more it makes sense to have a player with a profile of Endrick.

“He is different than anything else they have in the attack in a central position. So, I’m thinking that perhaps that could be a place that could think about Endrick as a possibility.”

United, still searching for a reliable, explosive presence through the middle, tick plenty of boxes. Prestige. Pressure. A platform big enough for a player who already carries the weight of expectation for club and country. For Moreno, Old Trafford would be a step sideways in status, not down.

“It wouldn’t feel like such a demotion if you will,” he argued. After last season’s loan, Endrick has every right to feel he has outgrown the bench. “And after the season he had last year being out on loan and how well he did he must be thinking, ‘Alright, let’s keep it going. Is that going to happen at Real Madrid? Well, probably not. Let me go somewhere else that I can do that’… I’m just thinking that Manchester United could use a player like Endrick.”

United are not alone in that thought.

Villa’s bold play and Mourinho’s verdict

Aston Villa, newly armed with Champions League football and fresh from the record-breaking sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea, are weighing up an ambitious loan move of their own. Unai Emery wants depth, quality and variety in his forward line. Endrick offers all three.

Villa Park would give him a European stage, a demanding manager and a team on the rise. For a club that has been aggressive and smart in the market, landing a talent of this magnitude, even on loan, would be a statement to the rest of the Premier League.

But any Premier League dream must first pass one man: José Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach has taken charge at the Bernabéu and, according to reports, has been thoroughly impressed with Endrick’s work during pre-season. That changes the equation. A manager who thrives on harnessing young, fearless forwards is now seeing the Brazilian up close, every day.

If Mourinho decides Endrick stays, he stays. The prospect of the teenager fighting for minutes alongside Mbappé and new signing Carlos Espi suddenly looks very real. For United and Villa, that could mean the door slamming shut before it ever truly opens.

Lyon loan proves the point

What makes this debate so intense is that Endrick has already shown what happens when he actually plays.

Sent to Lyon for the second half of last season, he responded with numbers that demand attention: eight goals and eight assists in just 21 appearances. Not a prospect. A producer.

Those months in France offered a glimpse of what regular football can do for him. Sharper movement. Better decision-making. A player who doesn’t just flash potential, but bends games in his favour.

That’s why the argument over his next move is not just about badge or brand. It’s about minutes.

“What’s the point of moving?” – Nicol’s warning

While the Premier League’s heavyweights circle, some voices are calling for a different path.

Steve Nicol believes the priority should be guaranteed football, not the size of the club crest. For the former Liverpool defender, a club like Fulham might actually be the smartest destination.

“I was thinking more along the lines of a Fulham where he’s 100 per cent going to play,” Nicol said. “Fulham are going to play attacking football. They’re not going to win all the time [but] they’re going to win a fair share, they’re going to create chances.”

His message is blunt and difficult to argue with.

“Somebody like Endrick has to go somewhere where he’s going to play all the time, otherwise what’s the point of moving away from Real Madrid?”

That is the crux of it. Stay and fight under Mourinho, gambling on minutes in a superstar-laden squad. Jump to Manchester United and shoulder the responsibility of reviving an attack that has lacked his profile. Choose a project like Villa or Fulham, where the promise of regular football might accelerate his rise faster than any marquee move.
