Eduardo Camavinga Faces Uncertain Future at Real Madrid

A new era is taking shape at Real Madrid, and Eduardo Camavinga suddenly finds himself on the wrong side of it.

Jose Mourinho has barely walked through the doors at Valdebebas and the message is already blunt. The squad will be reshaped, power lines redrawn, and reputations will not guarantee minutes. Four signings are already in, with moves for Yan Diomande and Rodri on the table, and the clear-out has begun.

Raul Asencio and Franco Mastantuono have been told their roles for 2026-27 would be minimal. The club has urged them to look for exits, whether on loan or permanently. Camavinga has now been placed in the same bracket – and that is the headline decision.

According to Sergio Valentin, Mourinho has met directly with the France international and delivered the kind of verdict every top player dreads: he will not be counted on next season. In Mourinho’s plan, Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Bernardo Silva sit firmly ahead of him in the pecking order. In a squad where competition is a way of life, this is more than a warning. It is a demotion.

From the club’s perspective, the timing is obvious. Camavinga is young, established, and still carries significant market value. A sale this summer would bring in serious money at a moment when Madrid are aggressively retooling under a demanding new coach.

But the story does not end with the club’s intentions.

Camavinga, as multiple reports stress, has no desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. Not this summer. Not on loan. Not permanently. He intends to stay and fight for his place, even if Mourinho’s roadmap currently has no clear route for him to regular minutes.

That leaves Madrid in a stand-off with one of their most valuable assets. The board may be open to cashing in. Interested clubs may circle with offers. None of it will matter if the player simply says no.

Mourinho is reshaping Real Madrid in his own image. The question now is whether Camavinga will become a cornerstone of that project against the odds, or an expensive bystander watching the new era unfold from the bench.
