Dominik Szoboszlai Signs Long-Term Deal with Liverpool
Liverpool have moved to secure one of the pillars of their midfield, tying Dominik Szoboszlai down to a new long-term contract that is expected to run until the end of the 2030/31 season.
The Reds’ No 8, already central to the club’s plans, has now been formally locked into those ambitions. The agreement, understood to be a five-year extension, underlines how sharply his importance has risen since he arrived from RB Leipzig three years ago.
“It’s maybe my biggest day,” the 25-year-old said, placing the moment alongside the day he first joined Liverpool and the birth of his child. In footballing terms, he called it one of the top three days of his career. The emotion was clear: “Very happy. [I] can’t wait to go again and again and again. I’m just happy to be here, as I said many times.”
Liverpool know exactly why they pushed to get this done now.
In a 2025/26 season that fell short of expectations for the club, Szoboszlai stood out as a rare constant. He delivered 13 goals and 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions, driving the team from midfield and carrying responsibility when others faded. Those numbers, and the authority of his performances, earned him Liverpool’s Men’s Player of the Year award.
While the campaign around him faltered, Szoboszlai’s stock rose. The new contract is the clearest signal yet: Liverpool intend to build the next version of themselves with the Hungarian at its heart.
