Derby County Signs Alex Mowatt from West Bromwich Albion

Derby County have landed midfielder Alex Mowatt from West Bromwich Albion on a two-year deal, prising him away from a Championship rival just days after seeing an initial bid knocked back.

The 31-year-old joins the Rams for an undisclosed fee, ending a three-year spell at The Hawthorns and stepping into a new chapter at Pride Park with a year still left on his West Brom contract.

Mowatt, who made his name at Leeds United before becoming a key figure at Barnsley, signed for West Brom in the summer of 2021 and went on to rack up 170 appearances for the Baggies.

His final outing in Albion colours came only last week, in the Carabao Cup first-round win over Rotherham United – a low-key farewell before Derby moved quickly to get their man.
