Curtis Jones Completes Move to Inter Milan After 16 Years at Liverpool

Curtis Jones has drawn the curtain on a 16-year Liverpool story, sealing a move to Inter Milan in a deal worth around £30m and bringing to an end one of the club’s longest-running modern academy journeys.

The 25-year-old leaves having made more than 200 appearances for the Reds, scoring 22 goals and collecting six major trophies, including two Premier League titles. From academy hopeful to first-team regular, his entire footballing life to this point has been painted in red.

He chose to say goodbye in his own words. No press conference, no big stage. Just a raw message to supporters on social media.

“After 16 years, it's time to say goodbye,” he wrote, laying out the scale of the decision in the simplest possible terms. He reminded fans where it all began: a local kid with a single ambition – to play for Liverpool – who ended up living that dream on the biggest stages in club football.

“This club is all I've ever known,” Jones said. “I came here as a kid and I'm leaving as a man with a family of my own, which probably puts into perspective just how much of my life I've spent here.”

That line told its own story. Jones wasn’t just saying farewell to a workplace. He was closing a chapter that has run alongside every major step in his life, on and off the pitch.

He spoke about the milestones: making his debut, lifting trophies, creating memories he says he will never forget – and becoming a father during his time at Anfield. That, he admitted, has changed the way he sees his bond with the club.

“Having my daughter while I've been here makes it even more special because Liverpool isn't just part of my story anymore, it's part of my family's story too.”

The message then turned inward, back to the people who helped shape him. Jones thanked academy staff and coaches, the figures who guided him from a teenager at Kirkby to a midfielder trusted on Premier League and European nights. He acknowledged the many staff members behind the scenes at Anfield whose work rarely makes headlines but underpins every success.

Then came the dressing room.

“To all the lads I've shared a dressing room with over the years, thank you. I've played with some unbelievable players and made friendships I know I'll have for life,” he said, a nod to the calibre of teammate he has worked alongside and the bonds formed in the pressure of elite football.

His final tribute was reserved for the supporters – those who watched him grow, criticised him at times, backed him at others, and ultimately claimed him as one of their own.

“Thank you to the fans that stuck by me and always supported me. I will always be one of you.”

With that, he turned to what comes next. A new league. A new country. A new test.

“Now it's time for a new challenge and a new chapter for me and my family, and I'm excited for what's ahead.”

He made sure to leave no doubt about where his heart was formed.

“But Liverpool will always be a massive part of me. I came here as a kid with a dream and I'm leaving having lived it. So genuinely, to everyone who has played any part in my 16 years here, thank you. I'll never forget it. YNWA.”

From academy prospect to title winner, Curtis Jones leaves Anfield with his dream fulfilled and a fresh one beginning in Milan.
