Coventry and Sheffield United Disagree Over Hamer's Fee; West Ham Eyes Former Spurs Forward
Coventry City Negotiations Hit Snag in Bid to Re-sign Gustavo Hamer
Coventry City are still negotiating with Sheffield United over midfielder Gustavo Hamer, aiming to bring the 29-year-old back to the club. Hamer previously played 132 matches for Coventry during a three-year stint before transferring to Sheffield United in 2023.
According to Sky Sports News, the talks continue but face a significant hurdle as both clubs differ on the player's valuation. Hamer is entering the last year of his contract with Sheffield United, which could influence the negotiations.
If Coventry can settle on a fee, the transfer should proceed smoothly since Hamer is eager to return to his former team and compete in the Premier League again after the 2023-24 season.
West Ham Pursuing Troy Parrott After Wilson Isidor Bid Falls Through
West Ham United, currently in the Championship, are targeting striker Troy Parrott, formerly of Tottenham Hotspur. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo seeks to strengthen their squad to push for a swift return to the Premier League.
The Daily Mail reports that West Ham shifted focus to Parrott after failing to secure Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor. The Irish forward has impressed at AZ Alkmaar with 51 goals in 96 appearances over two seasons.
Competition is fierce, with Italian club Como, Spanish side Real Betis, and Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and Ajax also interested. While Como, Betis, and PSV offer Champions League football, West Ham hopes an £18 million bid will clinch Parrott’s signature.
Ipswich Town Nearing Deal to Sign Florentino Luis from Burnley
Ipswich Town are close to securing midfielder Florentino Luis from Burnley. Luis joined Burnley on loan last season before making his move permanent this summer.
With Burnley relegated to the Championship, Ipswich and Hull City expressed interest. Hull pursued a loan deal, but Ipswich have won the race by offering a permanent transfer reportedly worth around £16 million.
Sky Sports News confirms Luis completed his medical on Monday, and Ipswich will soon announce the signing. The 26-year-old will add depth to a midfield featuring Azor Matusiwa, Marcelino Nunez, Jack Taylor, and Cameron Humphreys under manager Gary O'Neil.
