Against this backdrop, Xabi Alonso was appointed first-team manager after Liam Rosenior’s short spell. The club spent over £300 million on new players this summer while making £143 million from sales. Alonso emphasizes the need for experienced players, bringing in Premier League veterans like Jordan Henderson, 36, and Danny Welbeck, 35, signaling a departure from Chelsea’s previous focus on young talents.
