Overview of the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League Clubs

The UEFA Champions League, Europe's premier club football tournament, returns with high stakes and intense battles. Two-time defending champions Paris Saint-Germain aim to make history by capturing a third straight European crown, an achievement only three clubs have managed before.

Challengers include some of Europe's biggest names such as Barcelona, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Alongside them are newcomers like Italian side Como, who will appear in the competition’s league phase for the first time.

Teams Qualified for the League Phase

A total of 36 teams will feature in the league phase of the 2026-27 Champions League. Of these, 29 secured direct qualification while seven spots will be filled through playoff rounds.

The top four clubs from UEFA’s four highest-ranked leagues qualify automatically. The fifth-ranked league sends three teams directly, the sixth-ranked sends two, and one team each comes from leagues ranked seventh to tenth. Additionally, two extra places are awarded based on European Performance Spots (EPS), which for this season go to England and Spain.
