Benjamin Sesko Withdraws from Slovenia Squad as Injury Woes Deepen for Manchester United

Benjamin Sesko has pulled out of Slovenia’s Nations League squad as Manchester United’s growing injury list deepens and their stuttering season takes another hit.

The 23-year-old striker missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham after taking a knock to his shin in last week’s League Cup defeat to Brighton. That problem has now ruled him out of Slovenia’s upcoming fixtures, a run that includes two games against Scotland as well as clashes with North Macedonia and Switzerland.

United confirmed the news on Monday, outlining the next steps for their summer signing.

“Manchester United can confirm that Benjamin Sesko has withdrawn from the Slovenia squad ahead of the upcoming three-week international break,” the club said in a statement. “Benjamin will undergo tests this week before defining his individual recovery plan.”

Sesko has scored two goals for United this season, offering flashes of the power and mobility that persuaded the club to bring him to Old Trafford. Now he joins a lengthening list of absentees heading into a crucial phase of the campaign.

He is the fourth United player to pull out of international duty on the same day. Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo have already withdrawn from England’s squad, while Karl Darlow has left the Wales camp, underlining the physical toll of a difficult start to the season.

Michael Carrick’s side sit a worrying 12th in the Premier League table, with just five points from their opening five matches. Performances have been disjointed, goals have been hard to come by, and every injury feels heavier than the last.
