Barcelona Signs Belgian Winger Jesse Bisiwu for €8.5 Million

Barcelona have dipped back into the youth market again – this time for one of Belgium’s most exciting prospects.

On Friday, the Spanish champions confirmed the signing of teenage winger Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge in a deal reported at 8.5 million euros. The 18-year-old has signed a long-term contract at Camp Nou, tying him to the club until 30 June 2031.

It is another statement move in a summer built around youthful energy. Bisiwu follows Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi through the door, adding yet more pace and directness to a squad already being reshaped for the next cycle.

Born on January 22, 2008, Bisiwu has been a fixture in Belgium’s youth setup and truly broke onto the wider radar at the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. He drove Belgium to the semi-finals and earned a place in the tournament’s Best XI, the kind of accolade that quickly draws scouts from Europe’s elite.

His path has been steady rather than spectacular, but every step has pointed upwards. Bisiwu started at OH Leuven before joining Club Brugge’s academy in 2020, where he quickly climbed through the ranks. Over the last two seasons he played 14 times in the UEFA Youth League, scoring three goals and showcasing the same direct running that has now taken him to Barcelona.

The real test of his potential came with Club NXT, Brugge’s reserve side. Thrown into senior football in Belgium’s Second Division at just 15, he made his debut in 2023 and never really looked back, racking up 36 appearances. He did all of that without yet breaking into Brugge’s first team, a reminder of how aggressively Barcelona have moved to secure him before that next step.

For now, the plan is cautious. Bisiwu is expected to start his Barcelona adventure with the club’s reserve side, sharpening his game and adapting to the demands of Spanish football before any talk of the first team becomes serious. The pathway is clear; the pace of the journey will depend on how quickly he adjusts.
