Beat the Black Eagles on Sunday and they leapfrog them into second. For a club in their first top-flight campaign, that would be seismic.

Besiktas flying, but questions on the road

Besiktas arrive in Diyarbakir with their own storm of confidence swirling around them.

Vincenzo Italiano’s team have won their last four matches in all competitions and have been scoring in bunches. Erzurumspor were swept aside 3-0 in their most recent league outing. There is a catch. Every defeat Besiktas have suffered this season has come away from home. They lost 1-0 at Alanyaspor in the league, then fell by the same scoreline to Kauno Zalgiris in Europe. Tight games, decided by fine margins, but they leave a mark.

Even in victory, Besiktas have not always looked fully secure on their travels. Only once this season have they won an away match by more than a single goal. The derby success at Fenerbahce hints at a turning point, a sign they can now impose themselves on hostile grounds. Diyarbakir will test that theory.

Team news and likely lineups

Amed’s squad news is relatively straightforward. Yira Sor is still expected to miss out, while Dilhan Demir continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury. Beyond that, Hasi has his core available and little reason to tinker with a winning formula.
