Albion Faces Uncertainty After Vidosic's Departure

Brighton & Hove Albion’s ambitious push towards the WSL elite has been jolted by the sudden departure of head coach Dario Vidosic, barely a year into his three-year deal.

The Australian, who arrived from Melbourne City in 2024 and promptly delivered the club’s most eye-catching campaign in its history, has cut his stay short to pursue what he calls “a new chapter” with his family.

The vacuum will not last long if the club hierarchy get their way. Reports in Spain from Marca say former Real Sociedad boss Arturo Ruiz has emerged as the leading contender to take over on the south coast, with talks expected to accelerate as pre-season planning tightens.

On the other side of the equation, Vidosic is not stepping into a sabbatical. Sources indicate he is poised to move to the United States to take charge of NWSL side Angel City, a high-profile landing spot that underlines how sharply his stock has risen off the back of Albion’s breakthrough year.

For Brighton, the timing could hardly be more delicate. A squad carefully built to punch into the WSL’s top-four conversation must now absorb a major change of voice and vision just when it was learning how to live with the heavyweights.

The project hasn’t gone away. But the man who lit the fuse has, and the next appointment will decide whether Albion’s rise was a one-off surge or the start of something permanent.
