Al-Qadsiah Nears Tijjani Reijnders Transfer from Manchester City
Al-Qadsiah’s ambitious rebuild is about to get its headline act. Tijjani Reijnders, the Netherlands and Manchester City midfielder, is on the brink of a move to the newly promoted Saudi side in a deal that underlines just how serious they are about this season.
Saudi outlet "Asharq Al-Awsat" reports that Al-Qadsiah have reached a full agreement with Manchester City over a transfer worth 60 million euros. Every detail is said to be wrapped up. At this stage, Reijnders is effectively an Al-Qadsiah player, pending the final formalities.
The plan is clear: the 28-year-old is scheduled to land in Saudi Arabia on Monday to complete medical tests and sign his contract. If everything runs to schedule, his first outing in the Roshn League could come almost immediately.
Al-Ittihad's Challenge
And that’s where Al-Ittihad come in.
Reijnders’ potential debut is being circled on the calendar for next Friday, when Al-Qadsiah face Al-Ittihad in the second round of the Roshn League. The decision will rest with Irish coach Brendan Rodgers, who must weigh match sharpness, travel fatigue, and the scale of the occasion against the obvious temptation to unleash his marquee signing at the first opportunity.
Reijnders only joined Manchester City from Milan last summer, but he wasted no time making an impact in England. Across all competitions, he featured in 50 matches, scoring 7 goals and providing 8 assists, numbers that highlight both his engine and his end product from midfield.
Those qualities are exactly what Al-Qadsiah are paying for. The club are not just thinking about survival or mid-table comfort. They are building a squad to compete on multiple fronts, with a particular eye on their historic first appearance in the AFC Champions League Elite this season.
A 60 million euro deal for a current Netherlands international sends a message across the region.
The question now is simple: does Brendan Rodgers throw Reijnders straight into the fire against Al-Ittihad and let the Roshn League see, from day one, what this new Al-Qadsiah project really looks like?
