Zinédine Zidane to Lead France’s National Team

The Fédération Française de Football has confirmed that the announcement of Didier Deschamps’ replacement as head coach of the French national team will take place on Tuesday, July 28. Most indications suggest Zinédine Zidane is poised to take over the role.

A press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the FFF headquarters in Paris, where Zidane will be presented to the media alongside FFF president Philippe Diallo.

Zidane's Return to International Football

Since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane has been away from coaching. This appointment marks his return to the international stage and the chance to lead the most prestigious job in French football.

He is expected to sign a four-year contract, which would see him in charge through to the 2030 World Cup. His debut match as manager will come in late September with an away fixture against Turkey in the 2026-2027 UEFA Nations League.
