Transfer Window Chaos: Juventus, Liverpool, and More Moves

The World Cup has disappeared into the rear-view mirror. Now the club game takes back control, and with it comes the chaos of the transfer window.

Across Europe, squads are being ripped up and rebuilt. In MLS, teams are already bracing for the stretch run. Here’s how a busy Tuesday, Aug. 18, is shaping the market.

Juventus moves for Vicario, Rodri unveiled at Barcelona, Liverpool closes on Mbaye

Juventus has completed the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham, adding a proven Premier League shot-stopper to its ranks as it reshapes the spine of the team.

In Spain, one of the summer’s longest-running stories is now done: Rodri’s move to Barcelona is official, with the midfielder confirmed as the latest key piece in the Catalan club’s rebuild.

Liverpool, never far from the headlines in any window, has reached an agreement to sign Ibrahim Mbaye. The deal gives the Premier League side another option as it refreshes a squad that has undergone steady evolution over recent seasons.

Porto circles Gimenez but holds fire

FC Porto has identified AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez as a target, but, according to ESPN, the Portuguese club has yet to put any money on the table.

Gimenez has struggled to establish himself in Italy since his move from Feyenoord and now looks set for the exit after just a year and a half. The Mexico international needs a reset. Portugal could be that fresh start, but at this stage the move is still some distance from the finish line.

McKenzie heading back to Philadelphia

A familiar face is returning to MLS.

USMNT center back Mark McKenzie is set to rejoin the Philadelphia Union, as reported by The Athletic. The Union will pay around $2.5 million to bring him in from French side Toulouse.

The 27-year-old will complete the current campaign in Ligue 1, then move back to MLS in the winter, spending the first half of the 2026-27 season in France before linking up again with his former club. McKenzie originally left Philadelphia for Belgian side Genk in 2021 after coming through the Union academy. Now the circle closes.

Sporting KC smashes its transfer record for Andre Luiz

Sporting Kansas City has gone big.

The club has signed Brazilian winger Andre Luiz from Olympiacos in a deal that underlines its ambition. The reported $18 million fee for the 24-year-old shatters Sporting KC’s previous transfer record and sends a clear message about its intent in MLS.

For a club often associated with shrewd, measured spending, this is a statement swing on a player entering his prime.

Galatasaray tests United’s resolve over Bruno Fernandes

Galatasaray is preparing a bold move for one of the Premier League’s standout performers.

According to The Telegraph, the Turkish giants are ready to bid €30 million for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and are willing to double the Portugal international’s salary to lure him to Istanbul.

The financial package is serious. The chances of success are not. United is unlikely to sanction the departure of a player who was just named Premier League player of the season for 2025-26. Galatasaray may knock, but Old Trafford looks set to keep the door firmly shut.

Dortmund lands Veerman, Nkunku eyes Leipzig return

Borussia Dortmund has secured the signing of Joey Veerman from PSV, adding creativity and control to a midfield that has often carried the weight of expectation in the Bundesliga and in Europe.

On the other side of the transfer carousel, Christopher Nkunku could be heading back to a familiar home. The AC Milan outcast is being linked with a return to RB Leipzig, according to Calciomercato.com.

New Milan coach Ruben Amorim has made it clear Nkunku is not in his plans. That has pushed the Frenchman toward the market, where Leipzig waits as a logical destination. Between 2019 and 2023, Nkunku lit up the Bundesliga in Leipzig colors before earning his move to Chelsea.

If that reunion happens, one of Germany’s most explosive attacking partnerships could be about to spark back into life just as the new season begins.
