Latest Transfer Updates: Liverpool Teenager Heads to Finland, Issa Diop Joins Ipswich, Joe Willock Linked with Besiktas
Liverpool’s Amara Nallo Set for Loan Move to HJK Helsinki
Amara Nallo, the 19-year-old Liverpool centre-back, appears ready to move on loan to Finnish club HJK Helsinki. Having spent three years at Liverpool after leaving West Ham United, Nallo’s senior debut ended with a red card against PSV Eindhoven in the 2024-25 Champions League. He also received a sending off in last season’s EFL Cup match versus Crystal Palace. His only clean first-team appearance came during a 6-0 UEFA Champions League victory over Qarabag in January.
Despite Ibrahima Konate’s exit, Nallo’s chances to break into Liverpool’s first team next season were limited. Journalist Eetu Ikola reports that the defender is now heading to HJK Helsinki, who have included him in their UEFA squad list as they prepare for their UEFA Conference League qualifiers against Coleraine. It remains unclear if this loan deal includes an option or obligation to buy. Nallo is under contract with Liverpool for two more years.
Issa Diop Completes Permanent Switch to Ipswich Town
Issa Diop has joined Ipswich Town from Fulham on a four-year contract, confirmed by the club. The 29-year-old defender spent four seasons at Craven Cottage, making 96 appearances and scoring three goals. Despite his experience, he struggled to secure a regular starting spot behind Calvin Bassey and Joachim Andersen last season, featuring in just 13 Premier League matches, eight as a starter.
The Morocco international was instrumental in his nation’s run to the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, scoring a crucial equalizer against the Netherlands before Morocco triumphed on penalties. Ipswich reportedly paid around £8.6 million for his services.
“I'm excited to take the next step in my career at Ipswich Town. I know how big the club is and have enjoyed all of the conversations I have had before making the move. I know this is the right place for me,” Diop said on Ipswich's official website.
Besiktas Pursuing Newcastle Midfielder Joe Willock
Joe Willock of Newcastle United is attracting strong interest from Turkish side Besiktas. The 26-year-old midfielder faced competition for starting spots from Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, and Joelinton last season. Although he appeared 39 times across all competitions, Willock is now in the final year of his contract with no renewal plans in sight.
Journalist Luke Edwards reveals Besiktas are attempting to convince Willock to join them, and negotiations over a transfer fee are underway between the clubs. Newcastle originally signed Willock from Arsenal for £25.1 million in 2021 following a successful loan spell. His record at Newcastle includes 19 goals and 11 assists in 182 matches. One highlight was his streak of scoring in seven consecutive Premier League games late in the 2020-21 season.
Fulham in Talks to Sign Real Madrid Forward Gonzalo Garcia
Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa is keen to bring Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid to Craven Cottage. The 22-year-old striker caught attention during the 2025 Club World Cup by scoring four goals and assisting once in six matches. Despite this, strong competition kept his appearances limited during the 2025-26 season, though he still managed eight goals and three assists over 39 games.
Garcia's contract with Real Madrid runs until 2030 after an extension last summer. Reports indicate that talks between Fulham and Real Madrid are progressing, with Arbeloa actively involved. Although new Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho admires Garcia, he cannot promise him sufficient playing time and will not block a move. Real Madrid seek some form of preferential terms, possibly a buyback clause or a share of any future transfer fee.
