Tottenham Rejects Richarlison Transfer to UAE

Tottenham Hotspur have knocked back an offer from Shabab Al Ahli for Richarlison, leaving the Brazilian forward stuck in North London and out of the Premier League picture until at least January.

The UAE Pro League side, driven by coach Andre Jardine’s desire to reunite with the player he managed at Olympic level, pushed to take Richarlison to Dubai before the Middle East transfer window closes next week. The proposal even included scope for the 29-year-old to move on again in January.

Tottenham weren’t interested.

Club sources indicate Spurs rejected the approach on the basis of the deal’s structure rather than any reluctance on Richarlison’s part. The terms simply did not fit what Tottenham wanted, and the door was closed.

It marks the latest failed escape route in a turbulent summer for the forward. Everton, Trabzonspor and Vasco da Gama all explored moves, only for each option to fall away before reaching an agreement. Shabab Al Ahli then emerged as the strongest late contender, with Richarlison open to the switch and Jardine pushing hard, but Tottenham again held their line.

Consequences

The consequence is stark.

Richarlison is set to stay at Spurs until at least January, yet he remains outside Ange Postecoglou’s Premier League squad. Unless something changes dramatically, he now faces the prospect of three-and-a-half months without competitive first-team football.

For a player under contract only until the end of the season – with Tottenham holding an option to extend by a further year – it is an awkward limbo. His future has been a running saga all summer, and still there is no resolution, only a pause.

Tottenham must now work out how to manage a high-profile, high-earning forward who cannot feature in their league campaign but remains on the books and on the training pitches.

The Middle East window will soon shut. Richarlison stays. The next move in this stand-off will have to wait for January.
