Sacha Boey's Future at Bayern Munich: Vincent Kompany's Firm Stance

Vincent Kompany has drawn a firm line under Sacha Boey’s transfer saga and pulled the French full-back back into the Bayern Munich fold.

Bayern spent the summer quietly – and at times not so quietly – trying to move Boey on. The club listened to offers, pushed for a solution, but the right bid never landed. The window shut. Boey stayed.

Now Kompany is treating that as a footballing fact, not a problem.

“Now the transfer window is closed, and Sacha is part of our team and has our support,” the Bayern coach said at his press conference, making it clear there will be no cold shoulder for the 23-year-old.

The message, though, came with a dose of reality. Right-back is one of the most crowded areas in this Bayern squad.

“My role now is that he performs. But the reality is we have Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer in the position, and competition is already fierce,” Kompany underlined.

That is the battle line for Boey. He arrived in January with expectation and a sizeable price tag, only to see his first months in Munich disrupted and his future questioned before he had settled. Now he has to fight his way back through a queue that has only grown tougher.

Kompany’s answer? No promises. Just the old staples.

“So you need patience and hard work. But anything can happen in football if you have the right attitude.

“We're simply treating him with respect. He's training very well at the moment, and everything else will fall into place,” he added.

Behind the scenes, Bayern’s stance on players like Boey has been shaped by the new sporting leadership. Kompany pointed to the way the club’s hierarchy, led by Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, handles uncomfortable conversations.

“What I've seen working with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund is that the club is clear and straightforward; also in dealings with players.

“It's not always pleasant for the player, but you also gain a lot of respect from the players when you speak to them clearly and honestly.”

For Boey, that clarity cuts both ways. Bayern tried to move him on. They couldn’t. Now the message is just as blunt: you’re here, you’re in the squad, and if you want minutes, you’ll have to rip them away from Stanišić and Laimer.
