RTÉ to Broadcast Ireland–Israel UEFA Nations League Matches

RTÉ will broadcast the Republic of Ireland’s two UEFA Nations League fixtures against Israel, but only with the most basic coverage needed to satisfy its contract.

Ireland face Israel in Debrecen, Hungary, on 27 September in what is officially the ‘away’ game, before the return ‘home’ fixture on 4 October in Backa Topola, Serbia.

Both matches will be shown, but the usual trappings of a major international night are being stripped away. There will be no studio show, no host, no panel.

Commentary will not come from an RTÉ voice either. Instead, viewers will hear the international feed, with RTÉ simply taking that audio rather than sending its own commentator.

Only a minimal technical crew will travel or be deployed to put the pictures on air. No in‑studio punditry, no analysis segments built around the game.

RTÉ has also decided against taking any advertising or sponsorship around either fixture, keeping the broadcasts commercially bare as well as editorially lean.

The games themselves will still be covered in RTÉ’s news output, along with reporting on the wider events surrounding the fixtures.
