Rio Ngumoha Set to Stay at Liverpool Amid Arsenal Interest

Arsenal have been circling. Liverpool look ready to slam the door shut.

With the Premier League champions still hunting a left winger for 2027 after failed moves for Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior – and no direct replacement for Gabriel Martinelli through the door – Rio Ngumoha had emerged as a live, exciting option.

But all the noise now points one way: staying put at Anfield.

Liverpool move to secure Ngumoha

Ngumoha, just 18, has drawn firm admiration from Arsenal’s recruitment team, who continue to scan the market after a quiet end to the summer window in wide areas. David Ornstein has already hinted that something “could” happen in January for Mikel Arteta’s side as they look again at that position.

Liverpool, though, have not blinked.

The pressure from outside clubs has not changed that stance. If anything, it has hardened it.

Fabrizio Romano has echoed that line, reinforcing how resistant Liverpool have been to any approach, whether from England or abroad.

He pointed back to the summer, when Bayern Munich and others were linked, but the response from Anfield never shifted: Ngumoha was not leaving, not for sale, not even up for discussion. No negotiations. No softening. Just a flat refusal to engage.

“Rio is Liverpool’s future,” Romano reported, underlining how highly the club rate the teenager. In their eyes, he is one of the standout talents in his position anywhere, which naturally drags in suitors. The scouts are watching. The calls keep coming. The answer has stayed the same.

Now Arsenal’s name is back in the frame. Not because Liverpool have invited it, but because of the gap in Arteta’s squad.

Leandro Trossard has gone and been replaced by Christos Tzolis. Martinelli has departed and nobody has arrived to fill that void. Arsenal, as Romano notes, always scan for opportunities. If an opening emerges in 2027, 2028 or beyond, they would be among the clubs ready to move – and they would not be alone. Interest from abroad would follow quickly.

But that is all hypothetical. Today, Liverpool are working on something far more concrete.
