Radek Vitek Completes Permanent Transfer from Man United to Middlesbrough
Radek Vitek Joins Middlesbrough on Permanent Deal from Manchester United
Manchester United have finalized the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Radek Vitek to Middlesbrough. The deal is reportedly worth up to £14 million and includes a 35% sell-on clause, matching rights, and a buy-back option for the Old Trafford club.
The 22-year-old keeper impressed last season during his loan spell at Bristol City in the Championship, keeping 12 clean sheets in 41 appearances. His strong performances made it clear he was seeking regular first-team football rather than remaining a backup at United.
United’s official statement on the move said it is pending registration and praised Vitek's professionalism and popularity within their academy squads:
“Radek has been a model professional throughout his time with the club and a popular member of our Academy squads. United would like to place on record our thanks to Radek for his time at the club, and wish him all the best in his next step.”
Since joining Manchester United in 2020, Vitek never made a senior competitive appearance. He spent time on loan at Accrington Stanley, BW Linz, and Bristol City. Standing 6ft 6in tall, the goalkeeper was involved in United’s pre-season preparations for the 2026-27 campaign but sought a starting position, which led to this move.
The goalkeeping order at United is set with Senne Lammens as first choice, new signing Karl Darlow as second, and Tom Heaton third. Meanwhile, Andre Onana returned to Trabzonspor on loan, and Altay Bayindir moved to Celta Vigo temporarily.
Vitek shared his thoughts about joining Middlesbrough:
“It feels great to be here. This is a new challenge for me and I’m really excited to be a Boro player. The project here is very impressive, because you can clearly see the ambition and where the club wants to go. I’m delighted to now be part of that. The mission is clear: to go to the Premier League. I think everyone at the club has that mindset, and I want the same thing. Now I just can’t wait to get started.”
Middlesbrough have secured their new goalkeeper. Whether Vitek can help push them toward promotion in the Championship remains to be seen. Stay tuned to TipsGG for updates on the Championship and transfer news.
