Porto and Roma Stalemate Over Rodrigo Mora Transfer

Porto have slammed the brakes on talks with Roma for Rodrigo Mora after the Italian club refused to accept a demanding buy-clause package for the highly rated youngster.

The Portuguese side set out a hefty framework: a €10 million loan fee, a €40 million purchase option, clauses that could easily turn that option into an obligation to buy, plus performance-related bonuses and a percentage of any future sale. Roma pushed back. Hard.

According to Portuguese outlet Ojogo, the negotiations are now tense. Not dead, not yet, but very much on the edge.

Jorge Mendes has stepped in as mediator, trying to keep the move alive, yet there were no direct contacts between Porto and Roma yesterday. The silence underlines the stalemate.

The scenario is brutally simple for Roma now: either accept Porto’s conditions as they stand, or return to the table with an improved structure for the obligation to buy.
