Peter Shalulile Joins Young Africans: A New Chapter with Manqoba Mngqithi
Peter Shalulile has chosen his next chapter, and it comes with a familiar face on the touchline.
The Namibia international, fresh from ending a glittering six-year spell with Mamelodi Sundowns, was one of the most sought-after free agents on the continent. At 32, with his scoring record and medal collection, he drew strong interest from clubs across Africa and the Middle East, with a reunion with Rhulani Mokwena at Pyramids FC long viewed as the most likely move.
The script has changed.
Instead of Cairo, Shalulile is heading to Dar es Salaam, opting to link up again with Manqoba Mngqithi, who has recently taken charge of Tanzanian giants Young Africans. It is a decision rooted in trust, history, and the kind of footballing bond that is hard to manufacture.
Mngqithi and Shalulile know each other’s rhythms. They shared several hugely successful years together at Chloorkop, where the forward evolved into one of the most feared strikers in African football under the coach’s guidance. Those seasons built more than just a trophy haul; they built an understanding.
Now that partnership is back, in a new city and a new league, with Young Africans betting that their reunion can turn domestic dominance into something even bigger on the continental stage.
