Omar Marmoush Brings Optimism to Troubled Tottenham Hotspur

Omar Marmoush has walked into a troubled Tottenham Hotspur dressing room and chosen optimism over anxiety.

On the eve of Spurs’ home clash with Everton in the fourth round of the Premier League, the Egyptian forward delivered a message of calm and conviction, insisting the club is standing at the edge of a new chapter despite a grim league table.

Tottenham sit seventeenth with just a single point. One draw, two games without a win, and already a murmur of concern around north London. Everton, meanwhile, arrive in eighth place on 5 points and with early-season confidence.

Marmoush, though, sees something different behind the scenes.

“It has only been a few weeks since I arrived here, but the overall impression is absolutely wonderful,” he told British newspaper Straits Times, underlining how quickly he has settled into life at Spurs.

The 25-year-old also lifted the lid on his early work with head coach Roberto De Zerbi, a manager known for his intensity and clear tactical demands.

“He has great passion, and we are trying to grasp what he asks of us and apply it on the pitch in the best possible way, and things are going excellently so far,” Marmoush said, describing a squad still absorbing a new blueprint but buying into it fully.

The results have not yet followed. Marmoush has featured twice in a Spurs shirt: he came on in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle, then played in the goalless draw away at Nottingham Forest. Two appearances, no goals, and a team still searching for its first win.

Yet he refuses to let the slow start define the season.

“We hope to achieve victories, and as a new player who joined the team alongside other players, the harmony will begin to grow once we spend more time together, and I believe the results will be wonderful,” he said, leaning heavily on the idea of chemistry and time rather than panic and upheaval.

For now, the table paints one story. Marmoush is betting on another. Everton at home will show which one starts to take hold.
