Former Arsenal midfielder Anders Limpar is convinced that Mikel Arteta will not be tempted to leave the Gunners for clubs like Barcelona or Manchester City. Limpar believes Arsenal’s current status as one of Europe’s top teams provides Arteta with an exceptional platform, making any move unnecessary.

Arsenal’s Rise in European Football

Limpar highlighted Arsenal’s growing power in the transfer market and their presence as serious contenders across four competitions. He said the job at the Emirates Stadium is among the best in football worldwide because the club consistently supports Arteta with quality signings. For this reason, he sees no motivation for Arteta to abandon his project in North London.

“Why would Mikel Arteta ever leave Arsenal when they are able to sign the best players in the world for him? They are the best or second-best team in Europe,” Limpar said. “Everybody wants to come and play for Arsenal now. We are a massive club nowadays.”

He added that Arsenal’s ambition to win the Premier League and progress deep in all competitions makes the squad attractive to top players. “If you’re only a good player, you’re not going to fit in at Arsenal. Go and play for Brighton or Fulham or whoever,” he explained.

The Challenge of Managing a Star-Studded Squad

Despite praising the club’s direction, Limpar warned that managing a squad packed with world-class talent is an enormous challenge for Arteta. He pointed out that beyond having star starters, a manager needs a bench full of top players who remain motivated.

“To have a world-class team, you need ten world-class outfield players, but you also need more than ten world-class players on the bench or not playing,” Limpar stated. “This is the hardest job for a manager. It was tough for Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp. It will be hard for Mikel Arteta too to keep his squad happy. That’s the hardest thing.”

Limpar emphasized that Arteta must become a psychological expert to maintain harmony and focus within such a competitive environment. “Arteta’s real job only starts now,” he said. “The players need to channel their energy positively even if they don’t start every game.”

Arsenal have already kicked off their preparations for the new season with a strong 4-1 win over Girona. The team is concentrating on fitness and tactical work ahead of a busy schedule.
