Mikel Arteta's Commitment to Arsenal Ahead of Manchester City Clash

Mikel Arteta is walking into the new season with Manchester City on the horizon and his own future still technically unresolved – and he could not sound less concerned.

Back in May, co-chairman Josh Kroenke made it clear that tying down the Spaniard to a new deal sat near the top of the club’s to-do list. The contract has not yet been signed, the curtain-raiser against City is looming in Cardiff, and the speculation has inevitably started to swirl.

Arteta is having none of it.

Facing questions at his pre-match press conference, he cut through the noise with a blunt reassurance for supporters.

"They don't have to worry about any of that, because I want to be here. I am extremely happy. I feel very grateful to work with the people that I work with and when we have the possibility, we will resolve that. And that's it."

No drama. No brinkmanship. Just a manager doubling down on his commitment.

For Arteta, the real battle right now is not over ink on a personal contract but over signings, sales and squad balance. The transfer window, he stressed, remains the live issue inside the club.

"There is always another priority, I think! And that's the way we have been treating it, I think because everybody feels comfortable that the time on the contract is not going to be an issue."

The message is clear: the club hierarchy and the head coach are aligned on the order of business. Strengthen the team first. Paperwork can wait.

Arteta went further, spelling out that his stance is mirrored in the boardroom.

"I think because my will, certainly, is to be here and I am very happy here. My feeling from the club is the same one. That is why everyone is doing things in a really organic way."

No countdown clock. No sense of urgency leaking into preparations for City. Just a manager convinced that his long-term future and the club’s long-term plan are moving along the same track, at their own pace, as the season kicks off in Cardiff.
