Michael Olise Shines in Bayern Munich's 7-0 Victory

Michael Olise walked out of the Allianz Arena with his arms full and his reputation booming.

A hat-trick. Two assists. A 7-0 win for Bayern Munich over Union Berlin. Man of the match. And then, as if the night needed another headline, a shirt from Neymar waiting for him in the mixed zone, complete with a personal dedication.

The match ball was never in doubt. Tradition says the scorer of three goals takes it home; Olise had his hands on it long before the final whistle. The individual award was just as inevitable. Across 90 minutes he tore Union apart, finishing ruthlessly, creating relentlessly, and dictating Bayern’s attacks with the swagger of a player who knows he is untouchable on the day.

As the 25-year-old Frenchman made his way through the media area, journalist Isabela Pagliari stepped forward with a package from Brazil. Inside: a Neymar shirt, signed and dedicated specifically to him. The Brazilian star had asked her to deliver it during her visit to Munich.

Union was only his seventh competitive appearance of the season, yet it was already the fourth time he has been voted best player on the pitch. His numbers are brutal: 11 goal involvements so far, averaging one every 51 minutes. Defenders are not just struggling to stop him; they barely seem able to get close.

Those around him feel it too. Harry Kane, who benefits directly from Olise’s creativity, did not hold back.

"I really enjoy playing with Michael, and I also like him a lot as a person. Not everyone gets to see his true personality, but he is a great character. He is completely different from how he comes across to outsiders," said the England striker.

If Olise prefers to let his football do the talking, Bayern’s hierarchy are prepared to speak loudly on his behalf. Max Eberl, the club’s board member for sport, did not hesitate to put his name among the game’s giants.

"For me, Michael Olise is also one of the candidates for the Ballon d'Or. He is one of the best players in the world," Eberl declared, placing him in the same breath as Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe and Rodri, who are widely seen as leading contenders.

From idolising Neymar, Messi and Zidane to receiving a signed shirt from one and being mentioned in award debates alongside the others’ successors, Olise’s trajectory is accelerating fast. Nights like this, with a match ball under one arm and a superstar’s jersey under the other, suggest a simple question for the rest of the season:
