What began as a simmering Ballon d'Or debate between Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé briefly threatened to spill into something bigger inside the France camp. It did not last long.

“I have already spoken to him about this matter, and there is no tension,” the France captain said. “I don’t think there are any real problems concerning it. I am completely calm.”

Le Parisien reported that the pair reached an amicable understanding, both determined not to let a personal interpretation of Ballon d'Or comments infect the mood of the national team.
